BC Injury Prevention Centre leads the way promoting injury-free strategies in high-risk environments including sport and recreation, and on-road travel. We have dynamic elite athletes who motivate students in BC Schools to learn the concept of risk-taking in any environment, we have a web site that has more traffic than the Sea to Sky Highway and it comes with free flash games, wipeout videos and an attitude of survival!
BC Injury Prevention Centre's new lifesaving program, "The Spirit To Survive", promotes 4-key survival skills and was launched in BC Schools, BC Television Stations and our Web Site, injuryfreezone.com in the Spring of 2005. In the Winter of 2005/06 we are launching a quiz style radio announcement, "Brain Test", promoting helmet use in snowboarding. In the Spring of 2006, we will be re-launching our mountain biking TV announcement.
Back in the late 80's, the BC Injury Prevention Centre's vision fostering injury-free living through innovation began in Elementary and Secondary Schools in Vancouver, BC reaching thousands of students. In fifteen years, we have expanded our outreach to include more communities with more programming by using innovative multi-media approaches. We reach hundreds of thousands of British Columbians annually.
