Inukjuak has a population of approximately 1,369 people which makes it the second largest Inuit populated village in Nunavik. Inukshuk Productions' is operated by André Brassard and his wife Qulik. Together they oversee and coordinate the company's activities which include a record label, specialized record distribution, publishing, marketing and promotions, professional and consumer audio retail. One of Inukshuk Productions' main enterprises is the advancement of traditional & contemporary Inuit & First Nations music and performers. Inukshuk has recorded a wide variety of Native talent and music with diverse styles that include accordion, traditional drum, dance and song, fiddle, country, folk, pop, gospel, rock, and the unique Canadian arctic Aya-ya and throat singing. As a result of these recordings, Native artists are developing a large following amongst music lovers throughout the world and there is an increasing demand for their music. These accomplishments have made both André Brassard and Inukshuk Productions leaders and visionaries for the preservation and development of Native music and culture.
Inukshuk Productions offers the opportunity of a lifetime to record any style of music in a natural setting and atmosphere which will definitely make the experience one to remember. Once you've flown in (no roads directly reach Inukjuak) you have access to the village motel or the possibility of lodgings with a local family.
