Title

The Institute of Maritime Research and Discovery

Description

Excerpted from the website:

The concept of the IMRD was born in 2003 out of longstanding curiosity about the ships and boats that plied local waters and the unknown lurking in the depths. In that year, the IMRD's founders, Pearce Paul Creasman, Michael C. Lansing, and Eric G. Creasman began to take an active interest in things nautical. Pearce Paul's three years in Maine, with its legendery tradition of shipbuilding and seafaring, and subsequent matriculation to Texas to study nautical archaeology pushed the Institute to fruition. Dedicated to scholarship, the Institute retains a reflection of its initial informal roots by a pledge to meaningfully engage with a popular audience.
