Description

Since 1986, when he left Toronto's York University to pursue a career in the entertainment arts, Stuart Immonen has variously worn the mantles of artist, writer, designer, editor, retailer and publisher. His first endeavour in comics was the self-published dramatic series Playground, with partner Kathryn Kuder, which debuted in 1988, and was followed up with a one-shot edition from Caliber Press. Together, they co-edited three issues of the humour anthology Headcheese.

In 1993, following several jobs at RipOff Press, Innovation and Revolutionary Comics, Stuart found work at established comics publishers Marvel and DC, which quickly led to long stints on a variety of high-profile and critically successful series, including Superman, X-Men, Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk and the Legion of Superheroes.

In addition to providing art chores for these series, Stuart also wrote and drew the Legion spin-off miniseries Inferno, and at the end of 1999, wrote, painted and pencilled DC's first original Superman hardcover graphic novel, Superman: End of the Century, now published in 6 languages.
