Iliotibial Band Syndrome is brought on by inflammation of the Iliotibial band. This band is thick fibrous tissue that is found down the outside of the leg. The band starts at the hop and goes all the way to the shin bone on the outer part of the leg just below the joint of the knee. The band works with many of the muscles of the thigh to help provide stability to the outer side of the knee joint.
