We are the State Headquarters of The American Legion. Chartered by Congress in 1919, The American Legion was founded as a patriotic, mutual-help, war-time veterans organization. We are a community-service organization which now numbers over 156,000 members in Illinois, in over 800 local Posts. These Posts are organized into Divisions, Districts and Counties. Each Division, District and County has officers who provide leadership in their respective areas.
