The Norwegian Institute of Journalism was founded in 1975 by the country's principal media associations: the Norwegian Union of Journalists, (Norsk Journalistlag), the Association of Norwegian Editors (Norsk Redaktørforening ) and the Norwegian Newspaper Publisher's Association (Norske Mediebedrifters Landsforening.)
