IFA Securities is a Australian Financial Services Licensee (AFSL No 247 150) which thereby allows accredited advisors to provide advice in the areas of Securities, Investments and Personal Risk Insurance. In order to be granted this licence IFA was required to meet the stringent guidelines set by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) including proof of financial stability, integrity and maintenance of the highest professional and ethical standards. IFA is also required to hold substantial levels of Professional Indemnity Insurance.
Importantly, unlike many financial planning groups who are owned by Banks or Fund Managers, IFA is Indpendently Owned with advisors holding 100% of its capital. This helps ensure that advisors are free to recommend whichever company, or investment, they honestly believe best suits their clients needs, free of any potential conflicts of interest which may arise with the banks own products.
A recent ASIC report highlight the potential conflicts of interests which face planners who are licenced via the major banks. They often receive increased payments if they recommend bank owned products and services. Furthermore, planners must meet production targets to earn maximum brokerage.
