Novellation of investment taxation act: discrimination of foreign funds will be abandoned; vast information and reporting requirements for transparent funds; punitive lump sum taxation for intransparent funds. 3. Introduction of new solvency regulations as at January 1, 2004: increase in equity and subordinated capital requirements for insurers; transition period until 2007/2009. 4. Modification of investment rules for insurers: direct- as well as indirect investments through fund vehicles in hedge funds will probably become eligible; special bucket of 5% total assets under management.
