Description
ICAA was initially incorporated in 1990 by a small group of die-hard Appaloosa enthusiasts who recognized the impact rampant cross-breeding was having on the "old style" Appaloosa type. It was felt that providing a cohesive network for breeders and fans of the Appaloosa "as they used to be" would focus interest and energies toward resurrecting the breed.
By 1997 ICAA's growth in the number of registered horses and the acquisition of more specific data regarding breed recognition and evolving genetic information necessitated a re-incorporation to reflect a more finely tuned intent and purpose.
In 1997, ICAA became the first Appaloosa breed registry to close its books to all non-Appaloosa breeds. Click here for ICAA's on-line Stud Book
