Representational representing the issues relating to directors whether in government, public or private sector in appropriate fora and

Developmental Professional development of directors and top executives. As an exclusive club of leaders of business and industry, the IOD's principal objectives include :

Strengthen the director's role in the development of industry and trade. Be the apex organization for implementing best practices in corporate governance in india and reinforce business commitment to corporate social responsibility. Provide information advisory and consultative services to industry, business and government. Create national awareness on improving quality of products, services, people, environment and governance Promote international cooperation on all issues relating to quality, environment and governance IOD Profile

Institute of Directors, an apex organization of company directors in India, is committed to upgrading the professional competence of its directors and enhancing the competitiveness of Indian business. It provides the most powerful platform to network Company Directors with movers and shakers of India.

IOD deals with all the issues relevant to preparing the Directors to become global business leaders and the subjects include Total Quality Management, Environment Management, Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Governance.

IOD is headed by Justice M N Venkatchaliah , Former Chief Justice of India and it has two special wings i.e Centre for Social Responsibility headed by Justice P N Bhagwati and Centre for Corporate Governance headed by Justice A M Ahmadi ,Former Chief Justices of India .IOD has a strong membership base of 1500 Institutional and 16000 Individual members . The person whose leadership continues to be inspiration of IOD is Dr Madhav Mehra .Golden Peacock Awards instituted by Institute of Directors has helped Industries to transform their business and develop brand equity.

Our programs extend from IOD Monthly Lectures to workshops, National Conferences and International Conferences on issues such as Quality in Corporate Governance, Quality in Environment and Quality in CSR.

IOD’s establishment in 1990 coincided with the beginning of India’s reform process. IOD’s growth since then has been mind boggling . IOD was the first to bring social agenda into business equation. With its current CSR plus focus IOD has been constantly raising the benchmarks for corporate transformations.

The IoD’s Masterclass for Directors and their Golden Peacock Awards are other flagship initiatives that aim to improve the competitiveness of individual directors and their companies.
