Since Google's launch of what is being referred to in SEO circles as its Farmer Update, Hubpages.com's search engine traffic has declined sharply. Google's Farmer Update introduced changes in the search engine's algorithm which affected traffic to Web 2.0 sites like HubPages. HubPages is working on changes to its policies and practices to ensure high quality and thus counteract this effect.
Earning Money through HubPages
HubPages has easy-to-use publishing tools, a vibrant author community and underlying revenue-maximizing infrastructure. Hubbers (HubPages authors) earn money by publishing Hubs (content-rich Internet pages).
The HubPages ecosystem provides a search-friendly infrastructure which drives traffic to Hubs from search engines, and enables Hubbers to earn revenue from industry-standard advertising vehicles such as Google AdSense, Kontera, and the eBay and Amazon Affiliates program. Hubbers enrol directly in affiliate programs and are paid direct by them, giving HubPages a more transparent payment system than many other revenue-sharing site.
