What began as a somewhat exclusive and decidedly strange adult male phenomenon has successfully transformed itself into an important part of local life.

With over 1500 members on its books, Harpenden Rugby Football Club can proudly claim to be the largest club in the town. In addition to the adult sides that turn out on Saturdays, the club boasts thriving mini and junior sections. On Sunday mornings hordes of budding Jonny (and Joanna) Wilkinsons rush around at the Redbourn Lane ground while their parents shout themselves hoarse on the touchline or adopt a more relaxed approach to life in the bar.

Success on the pitch has been a regular feature throughout the club's long history. Cups won at all levels of competition adorn the clubhouse, but without a doubt the highlight remains our victory at Twickenham in the National Powergen Intermediate Cup in 1997. More recently we have dominated the county sevens scene, Hertfordshire often drawing exclusively upon Harpenden players for its fixtures against other counties. At Colts as well as junior levels, our triumphs have made us the envy of clubs for miles around.
