- Houston Studio Glass was inspired by a passion for glass, rooted in a love for the material and fueled by a fascination with the process. Dick Moiel and Kathy Poeppel's interest in glass began with collecting. The retired physician and his PA/RN wife enrolled in their first Glassblowing class in Junction, Texas in the summer of 1994. With the invaluable help and guidance of their instructor Bob Mosier, they built a basic hot shop. In March of 1995 the "Finest Glassblowing Studio at 610 Jackson Hill" was melting glass! During the climate friendly months (October through April), the couple blows decorative and functional objects. The summer months are devoted to studio maintenance, taking classes, kiln casting and cold working projects.
