Established in 1987 under the name Information Development Experts, the company was founded by four young computer science graduates of De La Salle University. Starting as a systems development firm, it landed a big contract with one of the largest unibanks in the Philippines. Projects with the unibank continued through the 1990s (including Y2K conversion of systems developed by the firm).

Over the years, three of the original founders relocated to Australia and the United States. In 1992, the firm was re-incorporated as Gul Murjani & Associates, Inc.

In 1995, Gul Murjani & Associates, Inc. closed a contract with a major European airline to provide information technology (IT) management, support and consultancy services for the Asia Pacific region, covering Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. These services were provided through March 2004.
