Shamrocks anyone??? My Irish charm was born on St. Patrick’s Day nineteen years ago. I purchased “Shawnee’s Irish Gem” or “Gem” as I call her, as a two year old. Gem was obviously a “green” horse and I wasn’t much more than an inexperienced rider. From the beginning of our relationship, I knew we were destined to ride the trails of Colorado; finding peace and joy outside of the arena. Over the years, we have traveled many miles together, growing in experience and trust.
After a long and enjoyable career in Information Technology at a high tech company, I was given the opportunity to turn my weekend pleasure riding into a new career. Dissatisfied with riding the same old trails and knowing that Colorado was abundant in horse trails, I set out to discover them. Through this research, it became evident that Colorado possessed the trails but documentation was limited and most often incomplete. When found, the information was geared toward hikers, bicyclists or off-road vehicles. By using my computer knowledge and my love of trail riding, my goal is to give the horse rider one reference that has directions to the trail, a description of the trail, a map, various pictures as well as other important information in a series of books. As an author and a Colorado resident, I want to empower the local horse rider to experience the various trails and terrains available to them as well as encourage those out-of state riders that are considering venturing to Colorado for a planned vacation. Having ridden in Scotland, Germany, Australia, Mexico and various states in the U.S., Colorado will always be my favorite place to ride!!
My first book "Northern Colorado - Book 1" was released in December 2004 and is currently selling well. "Central Colorado - Book 2" was released November 2005 and is also selling well. I am currently working on another Northern Colorado book as well as a Southern Colorado book scheduled to be released in the Fall 2006.
