Hope, help and healing for those with anorexia or bulimia, their family and friends
If an eating disorder (anorexia, bulimia or compulsive eating) is affecting you, your family or a friend, Hopewell can help. We know what you are going through. We have been there, too. Hopewell Eating Disorders Support Centre of Ottawa provides support and information to help you deal with the realities of these serious and potentially fatal illnesses. Hopewell, a not-for-profit registered charitable organization was created in 1999 by three Ottawa mothers who were compelled by their own experiences. Nearly one in five young Canadian women suffering from serious eating disorders do not survive. Hopewell is dedicated to the memory of Genevieve Gagnon of Ottawa, one of these young women.
Hopewell offers direct support services and ongoing programs while working closely with hospital programs, therapists, and other agencies that assist people with eating disorders. Hopewell’s information is not a substitute for medical treatment or psychological care. We offer support and information, but not treatment. For help with the physical and emotional problems associated with eating disorders, consult your personal physician and a competent mental health professional. Before you use this site, be sure you carefully read and fully agree with the terms and conditions detailed in Hopewell’s Important Legal Disclaimer.
