DFW Dallas Home Inspection / Fort Worth Home Inspections / Construction Inspection
Description
My name is Andrew Podner, TREC#7217; I am the Owner and Operator of Residential Construction Inspections. I am a seasoned professional in the field of residential home construction with over 15 years experience in several facets of the residential construction industry. Construction is my family's legacy. Developers, General Contractors, Interior Decorators, Welders, Bricklayers, and Equipment Operators are all in my gene pool.
My parents were general contractors for nearly two decades in the Northwestern part of Louisiana. At age 13, I got my first real start in residential construction when I began doing electrical work on the houses my parents built. One of the reasons I was able to accomplish this was that my father was an electrician for many years before becoming a general contractor. By the time I hit 17 I was spending most of my spare time supervising our framing crew and still running wire when time permitted. Then I took a quick break for a couple of years to spend sometime in college studying civil engineering and eventually enlisting in the National Guard. After Basic Training, I was back in the home building game again. Returning to my old habits of electrical work was fun, but along the way I began learning about dirt work and foundation prep, even drilling foundation piers, and excavating plumbing ditches too. That experience led to even more work around heavy equipment and excavation to a point where I began installing on site sewage facilities to the tune of about 200 units per year. Somewhere in there came municipal and utility construction and my horizons with heavy equipment were again expanded and then coupled with my electrical experience as I became a subcontractor for the power company and installed underground electrical mains. I also spent a great deal of my time installing water and sewer mains and services around the area. I even somehow managed to build my wife a 1500 square foot wedding present finished just in time for our wedding on Valentine's Day.
Then in 1999, I suffered an job related injury to the face that to this day, I still don't know why it didn't blind me. Fortunately, I got away without even a noticeable scar; however, that incident got me to thinking that there must be a safer way to make a living. After all, I had a wife and we had just had a daughter 8 months prior. So I moved over to the plumbing/utility supply business and eventually, on to manufacturing and water/sewer treatment plant design. All of that work started moving me all over the US, and so I came to the Lone Star State. Then I bought a brand new home in Fort Worth built by one of the largest construction firms in the US. I was a bit surprised at some of the things that were wrong with our brand new home.
