Homestead started trading in 1983 as Homestead Electronics and specialised in making computer data switches and cables. The trading name was changed to Homestead Data Products a couple of years later. The company soon gained recognition as a supplier of quality products with the highest levels of customer service. As the computer industry expanded and networking became more commonplace, it was a natural progression for Homestead to begin making specialist cables and supplying other networking products.
Over the years the company has focused on all types of networking and communication hardware. In June of 1998 Homestead Data Products changed it's legal status to NetShop Limited t/a Homestead.
