Description
Roanoke Rapids is a city of about 16,000 people located on I-95 about 6 miles from the Virginia Border. An article was published in USA Today June 22, 2004, highlighting the area.
Roanoke Rapids also has the largest historic district in the State of North Carolina. Most of the houses in the district are “mill houses” built by the cotton mills for their workers. Some are two story, 5 room houses called a “single”; some are “doubles” with only one bedroom upstairs; some “doubles” had 2 bedrooms upstairs; some bungalows were built for the supervisors, and there are exceptions to the mill houses with some Queen Ann and Arts and Crafts homes scattered about the City.
My name is Janet Dixon. My husband, Roy, and I have lived here most of our lives. I was born and raised in a “mill house”. We have acquired over the years a number of properties, both mill houses and other properties. Our children have also bought and sold houses in Roanoke Rapids. We are retirement age and would like to spend more time with the grandchildren and traveling, so we are offering our properties through this medium to other investors and those interested in preserving, renovating and taking advantage of the opportunities presented here. Up to 40% tax credits, both state and federal, are offered to those willing to purchase and renovate properties in the historic districts of North Carolina.
