After being a professional arboriculturist/tree surgeon for many years, Grizz put his timber handling and chainsaw skills to a more creative use when he was commissioned by BBC’s Monarch of the Glen to build various log structures for their programmes. From a remote wilderness log cabin to a rustic saw mill set, which is to be televised this autumn, Grizz was kept busy for 3 years.
The build of Imrich Lodge, our family home, produced a lot of interest from passers by and soon we had serious enquiries to build log homes for other people.
Highland Log Homes are not about glorified garden sheds or kit houses, we create bespoke structures using massive logs in the round which are hand peeled at our yard. Favouring the handcrafted methods means the logs all vary in texture, colour, hue and indeed character.
