Hibs.net The leading independent internet site for fans of Hibernian FC.
Title
Hibs.net - The leading resource for Hibs on the web for over 9 years
Description
Hibs.net is the leading internet resource for supporters of Hibernian F.C. - and by far the longest-running. While the site is dedicated to the Hibees, and for those who have just surfed in and don't know that is a fantastic football club based in Edinburgh, Scotland and currently playing in the Scottish Premier League, the site is completely independent of Hibernian Football Club. Hibs.net is run by Hibs fans and for Hibs fans, and was the pace-setter for the many other Hibs web sites that have come and gone, and many more that still exist (see links below). The site first appeared in the early days of the world-wide web around 1994, as an on-line version of the short-lived Hibs fanzine 'TANEHSH' (The Absolutely Non-Essential Hibernian Supporter's Handbook!)
The site evolved to become 'ERIN Web' (ERIN in this instance being Easter Road INternet), that evolution itself feeding from an e-mail discussion list that thrives to this day (the Hibs-List). As the on-line community of Hibs fans grew so did the site with a number of organisations forming from the Hibs fans who populated the web site, all to the benefit of Hibs and the fans of the club. ERIN Web became Hibs.net when the domain
name was acquired in 1999, and during two years as part of the Rivals network of football sites moved forward rapidly in its position as the best resource of information for Hibs fans on the Internet. In May 2002 Rivals took the decision to drop all of its Scottish football sites, and so Hibs.net once again had to evolve and move on. What you are reading today is the result - the site remains at the forefront of all things Hibs, and is the only on-line resource that can be relied upon to bring news and views on Hibernian every hour of the day, every day of the year.
