The HEPA Council was created to help provide information on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s suggestion that HEPA air purifiers be used as part of an overall program for fighting dangerous microscopic airborne contaminants that could be released in a terrorist attack. The council is a group of experts from various fields including bioterrorism, indoor air quality, safety, asthma and allergy as well as HEPA scientists.
