Our objective is to provide a healing environment where independently licensed therapists can offer a range of complementary therapies to women with breast cancer without financial barriers.
Virginia Thurston created and lovingly tended to this garden over the last forty years of her life. She died of breast cancer in 1999. The idea behind the Healing Garden is to honor her memory by rededicating her garden to the purpose of helping other women with breast cancer find ways to heal without financial barriers. In this soothing place women can seek help and healing from a comprehensive program of professional counseling, education, and a wide range of complementary therapies.
Bill Thurston , longtime CEO of GenRad Corporation, and his wife Virginia hosted innumerable gatherings over the years. Bill remembers more than a few times hearing a visitor remark, "This garden is such a healing place!". The idea seems to have taken root.
