Title

Handcraft Log Homes

Description

Although the building of log house has changed, we cling to traditional ways. Almost everything from cabinets to window frames is handmade.

Log houses are funny things. Build them wrong and in a few years the logs will snake and you’ll have the north wind in you living room. The work is hard; there aren’t too many people in it. You start your work day at 5:30 in the morning and you go until the sun sets on the horizon.

Log houses are quirky, the logs continue to shrink and shift years after construction, so as builders we add safeguards to prevent a collapse. In some large log homes a jack is placed at the point where the pillar meets the beam, then adjusted as the roof settles onto the walls.
