Hairnet.org (DU) brings digital literacy to Britain's older people
Title
Digital Unite Homepage (nb Hairnet changed its name to Digital Unite in February 2006)
Description
To bring media literacy to those who might not otherwise find access easy. By media literacy we mean electronic/digital communication media, including computers/Internet and emerging technologies as they become available.
('Access' issues include the whole spectrum: lack of confidence, lack of money, lack of time, lack of equipment, lack of support, lack of training appropriate to the learner. Learners could be of any age and need training in their workplace, in their homes or in community rooms or residential settings.)
To enable other organisations and agencies to deliver media literacy by engaging with and capacity building their service users and by developing and evolving their own skills and services. We may do this through project design and delivery or through consultancy.
