Gulfers.org is a society committed to the promotion of world peace
The invention of Peace games was influenced by the ancient game of Chess and the 3BC Chinese game of Wei Chei, and the passionate zeal to entrench and immortalise modern democracy- as an ideology of tolerance, justice and peace. The fact that both board games simulates monarchy and strategic warfare prompted the innovation of a modern democratic game of peace, with simulations of the attributes of a modern sovereign state.
The invention of Peace games started in march 2003 by a Nigerian born geographer named Obenta Onoja Clement. He is the first son to a late retired military officer of the Nigerian Army Enginneer Corps, from Benue State. Nigeria.
The first test play of Peace games was conducted at the officers quarters of 14 Field Engineers Regiment Onitsha Anambra Nigeria, between Obenta Clement and Obenta Patrick on the 20th 0f April 2003.
In August 2005 a test play championship was held at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka Anambra State Nigeria. With Onyia Franklin, Obenta Clement, Obenta Patrick, Saka Humphrey, Ieren Itohan, Abuchi Nnaji, Idika Sadiq, Onyia Clement, Cyril Azadus, Rahim Agbo and Kingsley Lala, as the pioneer players of peace board game. The pre test championship was instrumental to the development of 10 peace gaming strategies namely Geneva, Diamond, Deterrence, Encirclement, Standby, Defence, Mobility, Obstacle, Peace call, and Blockade, by the various players of peace at the championship.
After 14 modifications in September 2010 the concept of peace gaming was finally modified during the completion of the official prototype by the founding, pioneer players and dedicated members of Gulfers International Peace Society (GIPS). This feat was achieved as a result of the vision of GIPS in the promotion of international peace and the art of peace gaming.
Indeed the commitment of Gulfers Alex Chukwuorah, Onyia Franklin, Omezia Ifeanyi, and Obenta Clement on research in peace studies, international relations, modern democracy, conflict resolutions, game theory, game simulations, and development studies, were instrumental to the incorporation of Gulfers International Peace Society (GIPS), in Aberdeen Scotland, as an international humanitarian peace and sporting organization.
The history of peace gaming will continue to unfold itself as a perpetual concept that will continue to immortalise democracy, promote humanitarian ideals and the practical art of peace studies and peace gaming to generations yet unborn.
