DEFINITION: First and foremost, a chamber of commerce is a community's business advocate. How is determined by the needs and desires of the business and the community.
A chamber of commerce works as a catalyst to urge people to work together to accomplish goals for the betterment of the community.
MEMBERSHIP: A spirit of volunteerism and a desire to contribute something back to the community are two important building components of a chamber of commerce. Membership is open to any firm or individual who shares a common interest in improving and enriching the community. Members pay annual dues as their obligation to the organization and to help cover expenses of the chamber. A variety of services, publications, programs, and events are made available such as a golf outing, annual dinner, Eggs 'N Issues breakfasts, Business After Hours receptions, member directory, newsletter, etc.
