- In the early 1960's, Tom & Charles Garrett constructed their first mobile home park on Walzem Rd in northeast San Antonio. Within thirty days of the park's opening, a tremendous storm, with tornado-like winds, passed over the city and overturned most of the mobile homes then in the park. In those days it was not the practice to tie down mobile homes.
