Description
The Great Northern Roasting Company was originally created by Jack Davis in a small town in Montana. Jack, who is formerly from Traverse City came home on vacation and noticed the lack of great coffee in the area. He went back to Montana where he had been in the process of starting a coffee roasting business, and realized the potential for exceptional quality coffee would be more exciting in his hometown.
Jack had discovered specialty coffee while rooming with a coffee roaster in college. He soon was assisting his friend on a regular basis, uncovering the difference between species of beans and quality of product. While becoming acquainted with the craft of coffee roasting, he learned to appreciate the opportunity to experience the taste, aroma, and worldly intrigue of specialty coffee.
While in Montana Jack met Sarah, who had just moved to Montana from Seattle WA. Sarah, who is a professionally trained barista, spent her time on the coast working and managing fine dining establishments in Seattle's busy downtown. Jack and Sarah decided to venture to Michigan to start a new coffee company that would represent the high quality coffee they had come to love over the years.
