The idea for this website started in April 2004 when I went to a graphic design firm and asked them to develop a logo for a church I want to start in a few years. I was disappointed with the results (the logo ideas).
So I thought, I'll find examples of good church logo design, put them on a (private) webpage, and send the URL to the graphic design firm to inspire the designer to do a better job. In fact, my idea worked wonderfully! I got another group of logo ideas from the designer (after he had seen the example logos) and every one of them was great!
Somewhere along the line, as a result, I got the idea for a website called greatchurchlogos.com, to help churches improve their logo or create a new logo that was graphically excellent. It would be a "virtual gallery" of excellence in church logo design. I actually do now own that domain name (as well as greatchurchbulletins.com), but the idea quickly evolved to greatchurchwebsites.org. Not "greatchurchwebsites.com," which is owned by a graphic design company and used to attract business.
