Description
Great Trips began in Denver, Colorado, in 1974, when its founder, Geraldo Kaprosy, directed study abroad programs in Mexico for Metropolitan State College. It continued on when he moved to the University of Texas at El Paso with travel emphasis on Northern and Central Mexico. In 1981, after settling in Minnesota, the company switched its emphasis to tropical paradise vacations to Belize and its neighboring areas of Guatemala, Honduras, and the Mexican Yucatan.
Instrumental in making Great Trips both a pioneer and a leader in bringing travelers to Belize were Bob Liva, then owner of the Hideaway Hotel, Ramon Nunez of Ramon's Village, and Escander Bedran, founder of the San Ignacio Hotel and the man who opened the Cayo District to tourism. With Bob Liva's help, Great Trips was able to publish the first issues of THE BELIZE TRAVEL MANUAL, the publication that introduced Belize to the travel industry in the United States.
Since then, Great Trips has provided thousands of vacationeers, college, zoo, and museum group members, adventure travelers, and sports enthusiasts the exact trip of a lifetime they sought. Today, our staff consists of, Geraldo Kaprosy, company owner, and Mary Rose Blumhoeffer and her husband, Edgar Arguedas. Having been tour operators in Costa Rica, Mary Rose and Edgar bring to Great Trips new expertice and an additional travel destination. Great Trips is especially well known in Belize. Lifetime friendships have been established there with some of the finest people in the travel industry, who instinctively treat Great Trips clients as one of the family.
