In the year 1893, after the opening of the Cherokee Strip, a group of settlers ten miles northwest of Enid united to have a church. They organized in the home of Mr. & Mrs Grayson, of which Grayson was named. The home was used, until a small building was built, and called Grayson Chapel Baptist Church. The first church was moved to it's present site 4th and Owen K. Garriott Rd, formally known as Market Street. In 1902, St. Matthew's Episcopal church built a new church on what was then known as 15th and Monroe Street. In 1909 this building was sold to the Grayson Baptist congregation and was moved to 4th and Market(Owen K. Garriott Rd), This building became the second church home for Grayson.
