I’ve gotten several requests this past week to clarify the difference between effect and affect. This mix-up is so common that it has become the stuff of legend in the grammar world. If VH1 were to make a countdown of the top 100 grammar mix-ups of all time, this little kicker would, hands-down, rank in the top five (right alongside I vs. me and bring vs. take).
