Grace Bible Church was founded in 1876 as the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and later renamed the First Presbyterian Church. It was the first Presbyterian church in California and the first Protestant church on the Central Coast. In 1980 it changed names to Grace Bible Church and remained an independent church until joining the Evangelical Free Church in 1988. The Evangelical Free Church of America is one of the fastest growing and most respected denominations in the country.
