The structure of the Thunderhead Lodge was built in 1941 as the Government Camp terminal of the 1950's gondola ride between Government Camp and the Timberline ski area. The terminal contained a popular restaraunt and bar. In 1981 it was converted into condos (10 total) and re-named the Thunderhead Lodge.
