ABOUT GORGE VIEW SOCIETY
The Gorge View Society was created in the mid fifties when a group of concerned members of the United Church of Canada (affiliated with the Victoria Presbytery) saw a need for decent, affordable housing for Seniors living on fixed incomes.
Land was purchased in 1958/59 and the first building was constructed in 1960. Over the past fifty years, the GVS constructed 16 buildings that 81 bachelor and 18 couples suites—one additional suite is kept as a Guest Suite available for family and visitors.
All units were built and continue to operate without government subsidy or bank loans. New units are built as enough rental income is saved for the next building project. Maintenance of some of our older buildings remains a priority.
