About Me

I am a former British Swim Team member; All American when I was at the University of California at Santa Barbara; British record holder, Scottish record holder and Scottish Champion; Commonwealth Games finalist; World Student Games Silver Medallist; and now, since 2002, Canadian Masters record holder.

After thirty years away from the pool, I returned to swimming to help strengthen a broken collarbone, incurred as a result of a riding accident, and thought it might be interesting to gauge my fitness by taking part in some Masters swimming competitions. My first outing was on January 19th, 2002.

My first meet of the season was in October. We did not get any new Canadian records, however, we have entered the top 10 in World rankings on the 50 Freestyle, have moved from 18th to No. 1 in the Canadian rankings for the 50 Breaststroke, have taken more than 1 1/2 seconds off my 50 Butterfly time, and should be very close to World Top Ten in that, too. On the 100 IM, I retained my No. 1 Canadian ranking with a little bit better time, but it was the last event of the day, and we'll be looking for an improvement next time I swim it. No excuses, but personally I feel that a start time of 8:00 am is just not my cup of tea.
