TARA MCLAUGHLIN, CPDT, CDBC, owner and instructor of GoodDog! Training, has trained dogs for over 26 years. With the help of her Yorkshire Terrier, Pookie, Tara discovered that positive-reinforcement training is a kinder, more effective way to train than the old-fashioned methods that use force and punishment.
Using reward-based, dog-friendly methods, which are based on the science and technology of operant conditioning, enables dog owners to approach training with a fresh perspective. Dog-training can be fun! We can relate to our canine companions in a way that enables us to develop a partnership with them and build a lifelong relationship of love and trust.
For the past six years, Tara has been involved with Therapy Dog work and helping others train their dogs to be registered Therapy Dogs. She is a licensed evaluator for the Delta Society Pet Partners Therapy Dog organization, and is a registered Delta Society Pet Partner with Sattva, her German Shepherd Dog. Tara and Sattva are also a registered Reading Education Assistance Dogs® Team with the R.E.A.D.® program of Intermountain Therapy Animals. Tara is also an AKC Approved Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator.
