Title
Gosport District Scout Council
Description
Scouting
Scouting is organised by a national governing body called the Scout Association under which are county bodies. These county bodies are named and organised along geographic county boundaries. Under each county is a number of Scout districts. These are usually named and organised along town or parish boundaries. This is the website of the Gosport Scout District Scout Council for example which is the governing body for the Gosport Scout District, in the Hampshire Scout County. Under the district there is a number of Scout groups and within these are sections. No imagination is used in the naming of these groups, they are simply numbered. The Beaver, Cub and Scout sections belong to these groups. The Explorer section belongs directly to the district and the Scout Network belongs directly to the county. A brief description of each section is given below along with their logos. By clicking on each logo you can visit pages dedicated to that section. There are no catchment areas within the Gosport District and anyone is able to join the group of their choice and there are plenty to choose from around the town. However, each individual can only belong to one group, but they can freely change groups if they wish.
