Gitzo, the internationally renowned manufacturer of professional camera tripods and heads, was founded in 1917 by Arsene Gitzhoven from whom the company derived the name. In those early days the company manufactured wooden and later, metal cassette filmbacks to fit many of the cameras manufactured in Europe.
