About Gilles
Gilles Bisson was re-elected as the MPP for Timmins-James Bay in 2003, his fourth consecutive election win. Gilles is now the longest serving MPP for the Timmins area.
Gilles serves as NDP critic for Natural Resources, Native Affairs, Northern Development and Mines, Francophone Affairs, and Transportation. He also holds the position of Whip for the NDP Caucus at Queen's Park.
First elected in 1990, he served as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Northern Development and Mines and the Minister of Francophone Affairs during the Rae Government. He was the Premier's appointee on the Ontario Government's Cabinet Committee on the North American Free Trade Agreement in 1993. Job creation and job security are key among his concerns.
