Description
This task really is about becoming familiar with some of the past Featured WikiPages so that in helping NurtureNominees we can point out various "example" pages that illuminate points and ideas for improvements.
How does this build community?
In answering some FeatureMePotentials today it occured to me (Tak) that I'm at a significant advantage in that I know of various "sample" pages to help illuminate ways to improve pages. GetToKnowPreviousFeatures is a way of sharing this knowledge. We should all start having a "toolbox" of good pages we like so:
- we can help the community build better WikiPages
- we can all start getting a feel for what makes up a great, feature-worthy page.
(Take a look at my notes on DiscoverPune.com/FeatureDiscussion to see what I mean by providing example pages, while we don't always need to cite examples, sometimes it's more appropriate than just saying, "Hey, you need some testimonials and a few more images.")
Done When
- A list of 50 or so "good examples" have been built. This list will just be the names of pages to start with.
- Team members will then take a few minutes each day to look at a page on the list, and then note reasons on that list as to what makes this an extraordinary WikiPage.
- DoneDone is achieved when everyone has become familiar with these pages, and we start seeing this familiarity (ie. citing examples) cropping up in the various "Feature Discussion" for current/new nominees.

Obviousy there is lot of great, rich content in the previously featured category. It would be interesting to gauge how featuring has helped to build community and examine retention, community building rates of previously featured wiki pages. I am not even sure this can be measured, or if so how this would be done. The question is how long does the relationship post actually being featured endure and how it grows into promoting community? How can we deepen the level of engagement? Kasey 15:32, 29 October 2007 (PDT)
