- Cruising yachtsmen from around the world gather in George Town, Exumas in the Bahama Islands each winter for months of fun in the sun escaping the winter cold. Each year since 1980, for a week to ten days in February to March, they organize and hold the George Town Cruising Regatta. The Regatta started out as a series of yacht races but has grown through the years to a week long series of parties, contests, and competitive games. For the past several years, there have been up to 450 boats in the harbor for the event. This website describes the many different events that have been held during the regatta or are planned. It should be noted that in any one year some events may not be included.
