George Jaques rustic furniture - Home
Description
George Jaques Rustic Furniture got it's start about 1920 when Albert Jaques (see photo at left) built rustic cedar benches, chairs, and tables next to the Ausable River in Keene Valley, NY. Many of his pieces still grace the porches and great rooms of Keene Valley's summer residences. Al's nephew Gilbert Jaques, was a helper in Al's shop. This furniture shop was located on the banks of the Ausable River where today George Jaques Rustic Furniture now sits. Gib's work can be seen in books written by Craig Gilbourn and Ralph Kylloe.
After a career with the New York State Police George worked as an apprentice to his Uncle Gilbert Jaques, who was nearing the end of his very successful career as a prominate rustic furniture builder. In his work today, George incorporates the knowledge of three generations into every piece he makes.
