My first experience with the web was in the early 90s. Somehow or another I wandered into an on-line, text based poker game with white text flaring out of a black background like newly birthed stars from the primordial dark. It freaked me out and I left. Sometime later I was knocking around an AOL or Compuserve forum when some 15 year old kid from Texas started chatting me up. It freaked me out. I left.
