Gem State Quilling | Unique gifts, keepsakes and cards for every occasion
Description
Quilling artist & designer, Paula Bauer, has been married to her loving husband, John, since 1985. God has blessed them with five 'olive shoots" (Psalm 128) to brighten their lives and keep things interesting around their country home, complete with two horses, numerous cats, and chickens. Paula is a self-taught quiller and an active member of the North American Quilling Guild, where she serves on the Accreditation Committee. In addition to home-educating her own children, she teaches occasional quilling classes in Moscow, Idaho (home of the UI Vandals), and nearby Pullman, Washington (home of the WSU Cougars). Though she has enjoyed creative pursuits since childhood - including culinary arts, needlework, crocheting, sewing, decorating, floral arranging, tole-painting and cardmaking - most 'extra-curriculuar' creative outlets were set aside when she discovered the exquisite art of paper filigree in 2001. She was quickly enchanted with the intricate patterns, the amazing versatility, and the relaxing nature of this age-old art form. She began creating simple cards & gift tags for friends and family, but soon progressed to more complex designs and projects -- many destined as wedding and baby gifts. When a few close friends encouraged Paula to market her gift items, Gem State Quilling was born.
Jessica occasionally helps design and create their cards, frames and gifts. Though her first love is creating jewelry for her own line, called Jessa's Gems, she can still be found at the quilling table whenever Paula needs her capable hands to help with a large order.
Susannah is a very valuable, cheerful general assistant. She a wiz when it comes to punching out greenery, shaping simple flowers, and performing many 'go-fer' tasks. And she has expressed interest in learning how to shape and form the scuplted flowers used in Paula's designs.
