The whole concept of a magazine for Guyanese formulated in 2002. Founder and publisher Mr. Simeon Corbin returned to Guyana for vacation, and observed that popular media was focused mostly on the negative things going on in the country. There was a definite void in entertainment, culture, fashion, travel and lifestyle reporting in Guyana. Crime and punishment got the headlines daily, despite the fact there were many exciting entertainment-related events taking place on a regular basis. He also noticed that in cases where some of the events were reported, the kind of candid coverage was lacking.
These observations were discussed with some of his friends in the local media. He suggested there should be a publication that focuses only on positive people, places and events. Some of his friends were sceptical, while others liked the idea. Upon Mr Corbin's return to the USA, he continued to toss the idea around with family and friends, and soon realized that his vision was developing into a full publication.
The final decision was made that not only will the magazine have entertainment related features, but it will also include travel, culture, fashion and lifestyle topics. In addition, to broaden the appeal of the magazine, certain controversial topics such as politics, race, religion and class will not be part of the magazine's editorial schedule.
