About Us
We started Boundary Garlic in 2002 on the Caron Ranch. My husband, Henry Caron, grew up on the ranch. He is a farmer and a photographer. Almost all the pictures on this site were taken by Henry on our farm. In 2004 he began building the Garlic Palace, so called because the magnificent main room has a vaulted ceiling and walls of windows with views to the north and south. When it is not being used for the garlic harvest it will be available for woodworking, gatherings or what-have-you.
I am Sonia Stairs. I have had a varied career. Since moving to the Boundary I have been a resource management consultant, teacher and administrator. Over the years we have grown much of our own food and I love developing new recipes. Having so many flavours of fresh and dried garlic to experiment with is great fun. The recipe pages of this website will grow as I try different varieties of garlic in both new and classic recipes.
We are finding garlic to be a fascinating crop. Each cultivar has its own personality and cultural preferences. Each year we acquire more named strains of garlic and when we have multiplied up the ones that do well here we will offer them for sale. We have always grown organically and since 2004 our garlic fields have been BC Certified Organic.
