Garder Power transformers have t3 Torema Toroidal Technology which is one continuous strip of steel. This means there is virtually no hum - and it requires about 1/3 less steel for the same power rating. The toroidal shape enables us to use shorter lengths of copper thus greatly reducing resistance or friction. The result is around 60% less power usage (and lower bills) than a traditional square transformer.

SmartGuard ISS(TM) is patent pending technology representing a major innovation in low voltage garden lighting transformers. Available on the Garden Power range transformers, SmartGuard ISS improves lamp life with a soft start function while continuously monitoring the output for overload and short circuit problems.
SmartGuard ISS provides four important features which improve the safety of garden lighting and reduce installation and maintenance costs.
• When power is first applied, SmartGuard ISS soft-starts the transformer and low voltage lamps there-by increasing lamp life and eliminating in-rush currents and nuisance tripping of circuit breakers.
• SmartGuard ISS continuously monitors the transformer output for overload reacting instantly if there is a problem. Overloading can occur when low wattage lamps in garden lights are accidentally replaced with higher wattage lamps causing regular transformers to overheat. SmartGuard ISS immediately detects overloading and controls the output current to prevent the transformer from overheating.
• If low voltage garden wiring is shorted, SmartGuard ISS responds immediately preventing dangerous high currents, melted wiring and overheated transformers eventually turning off the output if the short persists.
• Finally, SmartGuard ISS features a tri-colour status light allowing installers and resellers to determine problems over the phone, reducing the requirement for on-site diagnostic visits.
Garden Power garden lighting transformers are available in two styles with power ratings from 50VA to 500VA. The Amphibian model is IP67 rated and features a 240V plug and lead for DIY applications. The IP65 rated SD-Transformer is designed for fixed wiring applications and features separately mounted base to speed up wiring and to prevent accidental transformer damage.
